Article: Ventotene

Tyrrhenian Sea

Ventotene

A few summers ago, we rented a boat to sail around the Tyrrhenian Sea. We had the choice heading south towards Capri or north towards where the Italians vacation in the Pontine archipelago.

We opted to go north and some Island hopping from Ischia to Procida to Ponza to Ventotene. Ischia is a proper and substantive island with the fun outdoor day spa Negombo. Negombo is fantastic for a family of any age and size, stop by for the entire day if you can.

This little rock island is right off the shore of the very quaint and ancient Ventotene beach Cala Nave. Ventotene island has less than 800 residents and a very funky history tied to imperial exiles. Its name means wind.  It’s an ancient Roman pit stop in the sea and, so lovely and stunning.
